Environment
ICET staff members provide a support system for our students and are permanently located within the same school grounds as our students. All ICET staff members are committed to supporting our students not only in their English studies but also in helping them with their overall studies and mentoring them whilst they are living in Australia. We also provide 24 hour support for students and host families.
Student Life
- Out of School Activities:
- ICET helps students to become fully involved in community sports such as soccer, volleyball, football, netball and golf. Some of our previous students have represented the local community sports clubs and even the state of New South Wales in representative sports teams. We also encourage our students to become involved in extra-curricular activities at school, such as the band program, dance and various competitions. Challenge yourself by trying different sports that are unique to Australia!
- Learning English Beyond the Classroom:
- Various activities within and outside host schools, host families and communities all together form the cohesive ICET program. Our program is designed to maximise the effectiveness in our students’ learning and development as individuals during their stay in Australia.
Host Families
Our dedicated and fabulous homestay families are one of the most important ingredients to an enjoyable and unforgettable stay in Australia. Many of our families keep asking for students year after year- several have been with us for over 10 years! Before and after students arrive, ICET runs orientation sessions and regular meetings with homestay families to ensure they understand our program, how to best communicate cross-culturally, and how they can best meet the needs of our students. Our families provide students with friendship, quality parental guidance, and they are often keen to teach students about “Aussie” life and help with student’s studies. All families have fulfilled government requirements, including police checks. We hold regular social gatherings, such as BBQ’s and cross-cultural dinner parties, which are also a great way to meet other families in a relaxed atmosphere. We make every effort to match your requirements so whether you want to live with a family with children your own age or with a family with a farmyard of animals, we will do our best to accommodate you.
