2014年のURA Forum.

去年と同じく、Baden-Powell Scout Centreというところで開催されました。

４つの学校からちょうど80名の生徒が参加しました。

URA :

Understanding

Respect

Acceptance

違う文化を理解し、尊重し、寛容に受け止め、共存する、という意味のものです。

普段、学校の勉強や行事や習い事に忙しい高校生たちは、なかなか、社会の問題に目を向け、議論し、解決策を考えるという時間がありません。

このフォーラムは、違う国籍や文化背景を持つ十代の若者たちが、先入観や偏見でジャッジされることなく、自分の価値観や見解をぶつけあって、本気で未来を考えてみようという場です。凄まじい勢いで変わっていく時代の中で、現実に起こっていることを知り、問題や課題を意識し、解決策を考えることにより、時代の先端を行こうとするものです。

今年は、次のようなテーマを提起しました。もちろん、これ以外のものをしたいということであれば、それも大歓迎。

 Human Rights (Discrimination, Racism, Slavery, Torture, Rape, etc.)
 IT/Media: Influences on your lifestyle (TV, phone, apps, internet, medical

technology, etc.)
 Faith/Religion – Positive qualities and adversities
 Laws/Crime – Do current laws truly keep society in order? Are they working?
 Food/Health (diet/additives/GMOs/fast food/obesity/anorexia)
 Communication (language, non-verbal/verbal communication. etc.) – How different is the language you use to the others? How does it create/relate to culture?
 Sexuality (homosexuality, same-sex marriage, polygamy, open-relationships, etc.)
 Culture – How do we respect and embrace cultures other than our own?
 Education – Is the current education system adequate to prepare you for the

future?
 Family – Is there any difference of the concept/values/roles/structure/function of ‘family’ depending on culture?
 Economic development and “progress” vs. destruction of the environment. Can they work together?
 How to solve the problem of human consumption/waste/rubbish
 Energy resources – What is the best way for the future?
 Addiction (Tobacco, Drugs, Alcohol, IT devices, Food/Drinks, etc.)
 World Peace – Is it possible?
 Gender Inequality
 Human Trafficking
