休暇中の課題は、それぞれの教科によって違います。

例えば、Global Issuesでは、ホストと一緒にしたことを５つ、写真を付けて説明をしなさいとか、Academic Readingでは、本を読んで感想文を書きなさいとか、半年の自分の学習を顧みて改善できることを考えなさいというように、読む、書く、聞く、話すの４つの機能を使う練習になるものが与えられています。

ESLの宿題は、次のようなものです。

Imagine that the Prime Minister has asked you to create your ideal community.

You have an unlimited amount of money and lots of space to create your dream!

You need to present to the Prime Minister and ‘Inspiration Board”. With the board you need to include an explanation and description of your ideal community.

An “Inspiration Board” is a poster with different pictures that represent your ideas and dreams. You can get these pictures from the internet, magazines or newspapers. You can also pick up brochures and other inspiring material you may find.

When you are creating your inspiration board, think about and write the following things:

* Where would your community be?  Would it be a coastal, rural or urban area?

* What kind of housing would you have?

* What types of facilities and activities would you want in the community?

* Three special rules and three values you would have in your community (For example, DHS values are respect, responsibility and effort.)

Your written explanation and description should be one A4 page types.

こちらの学習は、どの教科も、こういう物を考えて生み出し、作成するという課題が頻繁に与えられます。日本から来た生徒たちは、最初は、ええええ？　どうするの？？？　とかなり戸惑うのですが、１回やってみると、その面白さにはまります。

この宿題は、あなたは首相。理想のコミュニティを創造せよ。お金はいくら使ってもいい。インスピレーションボードを作って説明せよ。そこには、これこれの詳細を含めよ」というものです。

インスピレーションボードは、ビジョンボードとも呼ばれ、自分が未来にしたいこと、夢見ること、計画することなどを写真や絵などを貼って、より意識を鮮明にするためのものです。想像力を使いながら、それを目に見える形に作り出していくことは、子どもたちが最高に楽しむことです。

今日も、写真の印刷など、最後の仕上げにみな忙しそうでした。
