ナミさんからの嬉しいニュースです。

DHSには、PASS-Physical Activities and Sportsという科目があります。この授業では、サーフィンに行ったり、ゴルフをしたり、ジムに行ったりと、気候に応じて、いろいろなところに出かけていきます。

先学期には、小学校にスポーツを教えに出かけました。Community Workという地域貢献を目的とするものです。小学生が高い技術を習うと同時に、高校生は、リーダーシップを発揮する良い機会です。

その最後に、がんばったね、という賞状をいただきました。

Congratulations!!!!

Yesterday Honoka, Koki and I obtained an award from our PASS teacher. We have been studying  PASS as one of our elective classes.

We went to a primary school and our purpose was to teach the students how to play rugby. But unfortunately, we didn’t have any knowledge of rugby so we studied it before we got there, for example, I asked my host father and researched on the Internet.

At the beginning we taught the basic rules such as kick, tackle and dodge. A man who is a teacher of rugby and also a professional of rugby told us these are pretty important skills.  So I emphasised these things however my practices were not enough, they still couldn’t comprehend by my teaching, but my Davidson friends helped me explain.

At the end of our community activities, some students were interested in Japanese culture which means we could teach Japanese things to the young children. From this experience, I definitely learned heaps of things, for example how to communicate with little children and have fun during study.  Thank you.

ラグビーを教える？　でも、知らない、やったことがない。どうしよう。ホストのパパに教わったり、ネットで調べたりと大奮闘して臨んだ小学生との授業。

ラグビーでは、キック、タックル、ドッジが大事と、ラグビー選手であり先生でもある人から教わり、それを小学生に強調。

日本のことにも興味を示してもらい、スポーツ交流はとっても楽しいものに。

苦労した甲斐があったようですね。

下の写真、持っているものは、大きなドライバー。すべてが手作りということ。刀みたいに、持つところは、凝ったデザインです。車のことを学ぶ「Auto オート」の授業で作ったものです。

「オート」では、フォルクスワーゲンを解体しながら自動車の構造を学びます。役目を果たした後の車は、中に土を盛って花車になるのだということです。
