韓国風１歳のお祝い

お嬢さんのEmilyちゃんの１歳のお誕生日を奥様の韓国のご実家でお祝いした時の様子です。
It is called Dol in Korean. It is to celebrate the first year of life.
On the table there are many items with a special meaning attached. Emily took the Korean drum which says she will be an entertainer or artist [music etc]in the future. Some of the others signify long life or being a scholar.
「Dol」と呼ばれる儀式で、寺院にお参りし、そこに並べられたお供え物から子どもがつまみ上げる物によって、将来を占うのだそうです。
お供え物は、長寿だとか、将来は学者の道を歩むとか、いろいろな意味が込められているとのこと。
Emilyが手に取ったのは、小太鼓。
これは、将来エンターテイナーか音楽系のアーティストになる、というご宣託！
韓国の民族衣装のマニング先生、そして、大きな笑顔と柔らかい仕草は、普段の授業風景からは、想像できないものですね（笑）
